By studying our history, we learn about our future. Students will study American and world history through courses offered in this department.
Religion courses are designed to acquaint students with the Bible, the Christian heritage, and the other great religious traditions; to deepen their understanding of God, themselves, and the human community; and to develop an appreciation of how religious studies relate to other academic disciplines. Studies in religion are especially recommended for students of fine arts, psychology, history, and literature, and for students preparing for Christian ministry.
The word "philosophy" means, literally, "the love of wisdom." Philosophy encourages critical thinking and engages in systematic inquiry into questions of the meaning of life, the nature of reality, truth and justification, knowledge and belief, religion and science, personal morality and social justice.
