A college education must do two things. It must prepare students for a job or career, and it must broaden their understanding of the world, themselves, and their role in society. At Union College, the faculty takes these goals seriously. In the Natural Science Department, students may major in biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics or one of many pre-professional programs. Whichever choice, the study will be within the context of a strong liberal arts education

The Liberal Education core offers a variety of courses in science, literature, arts and humanities. With this knowledge, students have a storehouse of information that will help effectively exchange ideas, thoughts and feelings with others. It takes more than a strong academic curriculum to satisfy the best students. Natural Science students are well known for their participation in music and drama programs, publications, athletics and other clubs.
