Staff Positions Available
Job Title: Safety Team Leader
Department: Campus Safety
Reports to: Dean of Students
Union College is seeking to fill the position of Safety Team Leader. The essential duties of this position are:
- Supervise the safety officers in performance of their duties
- Implement changes in policy and/or procedure when necessary to promote the goals and values of the college
- Work to secure college property appropriately
- Maintain safety team logs and reports
- Complete all State and Federal requirements, i.e., logs and reports
- Monitor compliance with all laws pertaining to safety and security of campus
- Oversee and maintain budget and spending practices of the safety department
- Ensure that campus safety personnel comply with the code of ethics and employee handbook
- Work closely with Dean and Associate Dean of Students to maintain student code of conduct and campus judicial process
Successful applicants will have some previous experience in security or campus safety. A bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required.
Upward Bound Project Tutor Advisor
The Office of Special Programs at Union College in Barbourville, KY is seeking a motivated, hard working and enthusiastic person to fill the position of Upward Bound Project Tutor Advisor. The Upward Bound Project Tutor Advisor is an entry level position and is responsible for providing services to Upward Bound participants. Travel is required to and from the target high schools four to five days per week during the academic year. The advisor meets with the participants in the target high schools each week, completing needs assessments for each participant at the beginning of each academic year and after each grading period. The Project Tutor Advisor also works closely with the Administrators and Counselors in each target school monitoring academic progress or problems. Additional responsibilities include maintaining accurate statistics and records of the program participants for serves such as tutoring and counseling for each participant. The Project Tutor Advisor also helps with the planning and organizing of the monthly Saturday meetings (during the academic year) and off campus trips and activities as well as assisting the Coordinator with the organization of the summer component. The Project Tutor Advisors are also responsible for the training and supervising the Residential Tutor Counselors during the summer component and organizing the summer component work-study program as well as teaching a Personal Development course to the participants during the summer component.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in education or related field with strong math/science background in either high school or college
- Experience in working with similar projects
- Knowledge of learning styles and the use of these styles in tutoring
- Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically with groups as well as individuals
- Commitment to the philosophy and goals of the program
- Commitment to working with low-income students whose parents do not have a college degree
- Preference is given to individuals who are from low-income backgrounds and whose parents do not have a college degree
- A valid drivers license is required
Head Tennis Coach - Union College is currently seeking to fill the full-time position of Men’s and Women’s Head Tennis Coach. Duties include giving group and individual tennis lessons; improving on player’s skills and techniques; evaluating player’s abilities and readiness to compete with others. Position: Assistant Athletic Trainer
Category: College- Professional Staff/Athletics/Clinic
Description:
Assist in implementing a comprehensive program of prevention, recognition, evaluation, and immediate care of athletic injuries to Union College Athletes and summer sports camps participants. Responsibilities also include design and implementation of rehabilitative and reconditioning programs for athletic injuries sustained by student-athletes. As part of a 4 person staff, the assistant athletic trainer will assist with athletic training responsibilities for all 22 varsity sports in the Union College intercollegiate program and will exercise overall supervision and administration of specific sport assignments. Travel to away competitions with one or more teams as needed.
Qualifications:
- NATABOC Certified
- Kentucky Certified or Eligible
- Masters Degree preferred but not required (may have the opportunity to supplement salary with teaching)

Graduate Assistant for Student Life
Type of Position
Graduate Assistant is a member of the Student Development Staff and reports to Director of Student Life.
Qualifications
The Graduate Assistant must meet all of the following criteria to hold the position.
- Bachelor’s degree for an accredited institution of higher learning.
- Prior experience in Student Development, campus programming, and or a related field.
Duties and Responsibilities
Administrative
- The Graduate Assistant position will require a minimum of 20 working hours per week.
- The Graduate Assistant will be assigned a primary area of responsibility, (i.e. Game Room, Café, Intramurals, etc.)
- Perform all duties as assigned by the Director of Student Life.
- Responsible for all advertisement and promotion of Campus Activities & Intramural Programs
- Assist CAB with the scheduling of Campus Activities & Intramural Programs
- Meet weekly with Director of Student Life
- Attend weekly CAB meetings.
- Coordinate with Residence Life, other departments, clubs & organizations regarding programming.
- Assist with setup and breakdown of Campus Activities & Intramural programs and events
- Attend all CAB & Intramural programs and events as required by Director of Student Life
- Communicate and follow up on all details leading up to each CAB/Intramural program and/or event.
- Scheduling of work study students.
Staff Development and Supervision
- Will supervise work study students to assist with programs.
Programming and Student Development
- Develop all programs in regards to Campus Activities & Intramural Programs
- Work with Residence Life, CAB, and other organizations to assist with development of programs
- Encourage involvement among student population
- Invite students to attend weekly CAB meetings.
Compensation
These may vary depending on your other contracts with Union College.
The Graduate Assistant for Intramural Programs will be provided with the following compensation.
- Stipend for 10 months
- 16 graduate credit hours per year.
