Title: Director of the Alumni Relations
Department: Advancement
Reports To: Vice President for Advancement
FLSA Status: Salary Exempt

Characteristics of Job:
The Director of Alumni Relations reports to the Vice President for Advancement and is responsible for maintaining relationships with the alumni of the college. Primary responsibilities and relationships with other people in the college are outlined below.

The Director of Alumni Relations works closely with all members of the advancement staff and other college personnel as appropriate. The Director also works closely with volunteers in many different capacities.

Example of Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement an annual plan and budget to promote alumni interest in and loyalty to the college through educational, social, spiritual and recreational programs that appeal to alumni.
  • Provide liaison and promote understanding, appreciation, communication and good will between the alumni and the college.
  • Work with alumni boards or volunteer groups to make sure that alumni needs are served by the programs provided. Plan and implement recognition of outstanding members of the alumni.
  • Represent the college at alumni meetings and events. (Alumni Reunions, Homecomings, etc.)
  • Organize volunteers and volunteer groups to assist with the alumni relations programs.
  • Develop relationships with individual alumni for identification and cultivation purposes.
  • Organize special events and meetings with specific segments of the alumni. (Alumni reunions, regional gatherings, community service projects, interest group gatherings--Choir, athletics, etc.)
  • Working with the Office of College Communications, plan and implement a communications program for alumni, ensuring that all are well informed about the college.
  • Assist with annual giving solicitations to alumni.
  • Work closely with Database Manager to ensure that accurate alumni records are maintained.
  • Extensive travel is required.
  • And other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree with work experience in a college environment, preferably in development or alumni relations.
  • Must be a strong communicator, have excellent written, presentation, oral communications and interpersonal skills. Must possess strong leadership skills, be able to motivate and influence others. Individual must be able to think creatively and strategically, have excellent judgment and be able to work in a changing environment.

Title: Assistant Volleyball Coach
Department(s): Athletics
Reports To: Head Volleyball Coach
FLSA Status: Salary, Exempt

Characteristics of Job:

The Assistant Volleyball Coach works under the direction of the Head Volleyball Coach and is responsible for all duties as assigned by the head coach or the Director of Athletics.

Examples of Duties or Responsibilities:

  • Teach specific aspects of volleyball including the fundamentals and overall strategy
  • Assist in game scheduling
  • Assist in recruiting
  • Prepare practice plans
  • Organize travel plans and overall operation of program
  • Scout opponents and give input game plan strategies
  • Support fundraising effort of athletic department
  • Other duties as assigned by head coach or athletic department

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Valid driver's license
  • One or two years related experience or training, previous coaching experience at the college level preferred, possible high school coaching experience will be considered
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to work as a team player with Athletic staff as well as with faculty, staff, students, and general public
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Knowledge of Internet, inventory and order processing software preferred.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel Word Processing software
  • Knowledge of operating office equipment such as computer, printer, copier, and fax
  • Possess excellent people and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and communication skill
  • Extensive travel during season with overnight and weekend
  • Work evening and weekend hours
