A Flurry of Winter Activity at Union
While winter may be a time for some to go into hibernation mode,
here at Union we are busier than ever. The students are eager,
walking a little faster in the brisk morning air. As we pass by
classrooms, we can see our faculty delivering much-needed
knowledge and wisdom. Our staff is making sure Union is
running like a well-oiled machine.
Here in the alumni office, we are gearing up for Union’s annual
Phonathon. Alumni who have not given yet this fiscal year
(beginning July 1, 2009) should be ready to receive student calls
between Feb. 15 and Feb. 25. For the first time in history, the
World Equestrian Games are being held outside of Europe,
and they’re coming to our home state of Kentucky! For this
reason, our theme is Phonathon 2010: Focusing on the
Finish Line.

Phonathon 2010 Gives Students,
Service Group a Chance to Earn
While They Learn
For the first time in history, the World Equestrian
Games are not only taking place in the United States,
but right here in our own home state of Kentucky.
For that reason, Union College’s annual Phonathon
theme for this year is Phonathon 2010: Focusing on
the Finish Line.
Alumni should be ready to receive student calls between Feb. 15 and Feb. 25, unless they have already given during the current fiscal year (July 1, 2009 – June 30, 2010).

Union Now Offers Automatic Recurring Gift Program
Life is busy; that’s a fact. For most, between the job,
the house, the children or grandchildren, there’s scant
time for remembering to write a check to keep the lights on
so we can see how busy we are. Then, when it comes to
thinking about those extras, like making your annual gift to
Union College, procrastination takes a permanent seat
in our checkbooks.

Former Students Honor Dr. Frank Merchant
with Scholarship
Life was never meant to be easy. No one knew that better
than Dr. Frank Merchant. This is why he prepared his students
for a lifetime of learning. He taught them to go beyond
“good enough” and insisted on excellence. They never forgot
him for that.

Memorial Tribute Wall
The floor has been laid, the ceiling repaired and the walls painted.
Union’s Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Gymnasium is alive once
again with student activity.
As the building’s finishing touches
are carefully considered, Union offers the opportunity for our
alumni and friends to honor a military person who serves
or has served in the past.
