Repair Affair Returns to Knox County

Students, faculty and staff joined members of the community on Saturday, April 21, to repair homes throughout the area as part of Repair Affair 2001.

This was the fourth year the event has taken place, bringing together volunteers to repair homes for those who are unable for physical or financial reasons. Since Repair Affair began in 1998, volunteers have repaired 30 homes for low-income elderly and disabled homeowners in Knox County.

Repair Affair was started by the Kentucky Housing Authority with a $4,000 grant. Each year, the grant amount was reduced by half, and this year, the program received no financial support from the Housing Authority. For Repair Affair to continue, Union, KCEOC, local businesses and community agencies will need to work together to volunteer and support the program financially.
