Dr. Christine Marley-Frederick Honored
with Distinguished Service Award

Dr. Christine Marley-Frederick, Ph. D., Associate Professor of Communications at Union College and a Corbin resident, has received the 2001 Distinguished Service to the Profession award from the Kentucky Communication Association (KCA). The award, only one of which is conferred every year, was presented to Dr. Marley-Frederick at KCA's annual conference in mid-September in recognition of her longstanding service to this communication educators' organization.

Dr. Marley-Frederick, who has been an active KCA member for seven years, was lauded specifically for her work on the Kentucky Journal of Communication, KCA's biannual journal that publishes scholarly research on various communication topics. In presenting the award, the Journal's editor praised not only her service on the editorial board since 1997, but her thoroughness and timeliness in reviewing manuscripts submitted for publication.

Dr. Marley-Frederick joined the Union College faculty in 1994. In addition to teaching a variety of communication courses at Union's main campus and the Degree Completion Program at the Bennett Center in London, she is actively involved in numerous College committees and activities. She and her husband, Bryan, and their son, Parker Boone, make their home in Corbin.
