Union College Appoints Six to Faculty

Union College has appointed six new full time faculty members in the Fall 2001 semester.

Dr. Hugo Freund, Associate Professor of Social and Behavioral Sciences, received the Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Department of Folklore and Folklife in 1991. He has over eight years of teaching experience at colleges and universities such as Salem College, Wake Forest University, West Chester University, and Drexel University.

Ms. Melissa Garrett, Assistant Professor of Library Science, received the Master's degree in Library Science from the University of Alabama in 1980 and served as a systems librarian at the Air University Library at Maxwell Air Force Base from 1982 to 1986.

Dr. Susan Isaacs, Associate Professor of English/Communication, received the Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Department of Folklore and Folklife in 1991. She has served as an adjunct assistant professor at several colleges over a lengthy period of time and has enjoyed both a Fulbright Scholarship in Strasbourg, France, and a James Renwick Fellowship in American Crafts at the Smithsonian Institution.

Dr. Amy Lindsey, Associate Professor of Psychology, received her Ph.D. from Vanderbilt University in 1996. She has served as a research assistant at Vanderbilt, and most recently has enjoyed two post-doctoral fellowships in experimental psychology - one at The Ohio State University Medical School and another at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.

Dr. Jeffrey Mallinson, Assistant Professor of History and Religion, received his Doctor of Philosophy degree from Oxford University in 2000. While at Oxford, Dr. Mallinson received the prestigious Denyer and Johnson Award for Humanities Research.

Ms. Vonda Moore, Visiting Instructor of Business, received her Master of Arts degree in Middle Grades Education from Union College in 2001. A long-time Union employee, she previously served in the President's office from 1989 to 2000.
