Bradley D. Jones Announced as new Director of
Union College at the Bennett Center and Assistant Director of Technology
Bradley
D. Jones has always wanted to return to his alma mater, not as a
graduate student, but as an employee. Last week, he got his wish.
Jones is Union College's new Director of Union College at the Bennett
Center and Assistant Director of Technology Services.
"It has always been a dream of mine, for
several years, to be employed by Union. The college has held a very
special place in my heart since I graduated many years ago,"
Jones commented.
Even though Jones has only been at his new post
a week, he's already made some observations and has plans to better
the programs he is working with. "I want to see a better integration
of Union College's programs at The Bennett Center with the London
community and I want to see an improved blending of the London campus
with the main campus," Jones said. "The Bennett Center
students have all the rights and privileges as any Union student
and I want to make sure they [The Bennett Center students] understand
that."
Jones hopes to help Union's programs become a
larger presence in the community. He plans to become more visible
in the London-Laurel Chamber of Commerce by connecting Union's programs
to community events. He also wants the community to be more aware
of Union's campus and is currently looking into better signage.
As assistant Technology Director, Jones will assist
Tara Cooper, the department's director in monitoring the budget
and making decisions related to technology on campus.
Jones' new office at the Nathan Reese Learning
Center at the Bennett Center campus is the same office his mother
occupied when she was a Business Professor at Sue Bennett College.
"I am honored to be of service to Union College from the same
place where she exhibited years of dedication to Sue Bennett College,"
Jones said. His mother passed away in 1999.
Jones graduated Suma Cum Laude from Union in 1983
with a Bachelor of Science in Music and Business. Shortly after
he became a licensed Radio Shack dealer opening a store in London,
Kentucky. From there he opened Radio World and has been selling
consumer electronics and music products for 21 years.
Jones is married to the former Sheryl Phelps
of London and together they have two children, Keegan and Lauren.
