Union College Christmas Festival set for December
4, 2004
Free concert featuring outstanding performances
by Union College Singers, Regional Chorus and Union Harmony
Union College will once again host the Annual
Christmas Festival on Saturday, December 4, 2004. The festival will
include the much-anticipated choral concert and a reception following
the concert.
Leading the Union College Singers, Regional Chorus
and Union Harmony is Union College Assistant Professor, Dr. V. Gay
Gandy. In the first half of the program, Dr. Gandy and the performers
will present Marc-Antoine Charpentier's Midnight Mass for Christmas.
In the second half of the program, the choirs will sing lighter
and more traditional choral music such as Masters in This Hall,
Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas and Let It Snow.
In addition, the audience will have the opportunity
to sing along with the choirs on several familiar Christmas carols.
The Union College Singers is open to all students,
while the Regional Chorus is composed of students, faculty, staff
and members of the local and surrounding communities. Union Harmony
is a highly select student ensemble that performs a variety of music,
from contemporary to classical. Assisting in the performance will
be Ann Toadvine of Corbin.
The Christmas Festival concert will begin at 8:00
p.m. at Conway Boatman Chapel and a reception will immediately follow
at Sharp Academic Center.
