Kentucky Secretary of State to Visit Union College

Kentucky Secretary of State, Trey Grayson, will be on campus at Union College this Friday, January 27, 2006. Secretary Grayson will be speaking to students, faculty and staff on civic engagement.

While campaigning to become Kentucky's next Secretary of State, Trey Grayson stressed the need to engage young Kentuckians more fully in the electoral process. Particularly, he noted the alarming decline of civic engagement among all Kentucky citizens. As part of his campaign platform, Secretary Grayson promised to examine this decline and work to reverse these trends in order to achieve a better informed and engaged Kentucky electorate.

Secretary Grayson, the youngest secretary of state in the country, was elected to office in November of 2003 in his first run for political office.

Secretary Grayson will be speaking at Union’s Sharp Academic Center in room 3125 from 8:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. The community is invited to attend.
