Over 100 Volunteers Join Forces to Repair Homes at the 9th Annual Knox County Repair Affair
Union College will sponsor its 9th annual Knox County Repair Affair on April 22. Applications for home repair on that date are currently available. In addition, volunteer applications for individuals or teams are also available.
The Knox County Repair Affair is a one-day event which combines the energy of volunteers from both Union College and Knox County to repair homes for individuals who are unable to make the repairs due to verified financial or physical reason.
New this year to the event, Union College’s Bonner Scholars volunteers will be joined by other Bonner Scholars from Centre College, Defiance College (OH) and Lindsey Wilson College for this one-day service event.
All-in-all, over 100 volunteers expect to help repair 10 homes in the Knox County area. Past volunteers have repaired roofs, floors, and built wheelchair ramps and have included members of various churches, civic organizations, and teams.
If you or someone you know is in need of home repairs and needs our assistance, applications can be picked up at the Common Partners bulletin board located in the Student Center. Volunteer applications are also available on the Common Partners bulletin board. Or, you may call Chrystal Pridemore at (606) 546-1361 for either application to be sent to you. Completed home repair applications must be received no later that March 15, 2006. Applicants will be contacted by a committee member to set up a site visit to the home. Volunteer applications are also due March 15, 2006.
