Union College is pleased to announce its 40th Annual Willson-Gross Lectures on November 6 and 7. These lectures bring distinguished Christian scholars to Union's campus each year to address vital issues confronting both church and society.

This year's speaker is Dr. T. Canby Jones, Emeritus Professor of Religion and Philosophy at Wilmington College of Ohio. Following his Quaker pacifist convictions, Jones spent two and a half years of World War II in a Civilian Service labor camp as a conscientious objector. His subsequent education culminated in his earning a Ph.D. degree in Historical Theology at Yale.

Dr. Jones is the author of two books: George Fox's Attitude Toward War and The Power of the Lord is Over All. He is also the editor of The Pastoral Epistles of George Fox and a past editor of the journal Quaker Religious Thought. A fully committed Christian, he has built bridges of peace between Quaker, Peace Church, other denominations and a few Jewish and Muslim groups.

The lecture schedule will include:

  • "George Fox: The Man and His Message"
Monday, November 6, 6:30 PM, Black Technology Center
  • "Join the Lamb's War"
Tuesday, November 7, 9:30 AM, Conway Boatman Chapel
