Mary Alice Lay to Receive Honorary Doctorate
Barbourville resident Mary Alice Lay will receive an honorary doctorate during a ceremony on Thursday, January 11, 2007. The ceremony will be conducted during Union College’s Spring Convocation.
The public is invited to attend the convocation, which begins at 9:30 a.m. in the Conway-Boatman Chapel on Union’s campus. Friends and family members of Ms. Lay’s, as well as Union’s faculty and student body, will be in attendance as Union College confers the honorary doctorate. A reception in honor of Ms. Lay will follow, to which the public is also welcome.
The Spring Convocation address will be given this year by Mr. Hallerin Hilton Hill. Mr. Hill is the host of the “Hallerin Hill Program,” a daily radio program that airs on Newstalk 100 WNOX. Mr. Hill is also a motivational speaker, trainer, author, a Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter, and the host of a television talk show in Knoxville.
