10th Anniversary “Repair Affair” Taking Applications

Union College Bonner Scholars will sponsor the 10th annual Knox County Repair Affair on Saturday, April 21. Applications for home repair on that date are currently available.

The Knox County Repair Affair is a one-day event which combines the energy of volunteers from Union College and Knox County to repair homes for individuals who are unable to make the repairs due to verified financial or physical reasons. Over 100 volunteers are expected to help repair ten homes in the Knox County area. Past volunteers have repaired roofs, floors, and built wheelchair ramps and have included members of churches, civic organizations, and other teams.

Knox County residents in need of home repair can get an application at Speed Hall or the Center for Spirituality and Service on the Union College campus. Applications are also available at KCEOC, or can be requested by calling the Repair Affair committee at 606-546-1361. Completed home repair applications must be received no later than Monday, March 12. Applicants will be contacted by a committee member to arrange a site visit to the home.

Applications to volunteer for Repair Affair are due March 26 and can be found at the locations and phone number mentioned above.
