Last “Bulldog Buddies” Session on November 11

Sunday, November 11 is the last chance for local youth to participate in the fall series of Bulldog Buddies. Parents can enroll children between the ages of six and eleven by calling the program coordinator, Stephen O’Donoghue, at 546-1361.

Bulldog Buddies is a free program designed to support healthy development through sports and mentoring. Union College volunteers serve as mentors as they organize sports-related activities that promote health and fitness, positive self-image, teamwork, social skills, respect, and managing success and disappointment.

The program began in 1995 as a partnership between Union College and the Barbourville Housing Authority. It is now organized by Union’s Common Partners program, which houses all college-related volunteer efforts.

“Bulldog Buddies is the best program at Union College,” says Stephen O’Donoghue. “Kids can come and enjoy sports with college student mentors, learn about teamwork, and discover the value of rules and respect from positive role models.”
