Evangelical Environmental Activist to Speak at Union College
Dr. Matthew Sleeth, author of Serve God, Save the Planet: A Christian Call to Action, will speak at Union College on Monday, November 5 and Tuesday, November 6.
Dr. Sleeth is a former physician who left his position as chief of the medical staff and emergency room director to dedicate himself to “creation care” and the environment. He now spends his time writing, lecturing, and preaching about the need for Christians to accept the call to address environmental issues. Dr. Sleeth believes that, though other groups have thus far failed to “curb the exploding environmental crises that face coming generations,” the church can succeed.
Dr. Sleeth is this year’s lecturer for the Willson-Gross lecture series. These lectures bring distinguished Christian scholars to Union's campus each year to address vital issues confronting both church and society.
The Monday evening lecture, “Serve God, Save the Planet,” will be held at the Black Technology Center at 7:00 p.m. Tuesdays’ lecture, “Live Simply So That Others May Live,” is at 9:30 a.m. in Conway Boatman Chapel.
