Old Testament biblical scholar Walter Brueggemann will deliver Union’s 2010 Staley Lectures on Feb. 22 and 23.

Old Testament Scholar to Lecture at Union Feb. 22 and 23

Union College will welcome biblical scholar and theologian Walter Brueggemann to campus for the 2010 Staley Lecture series.
 
Brueggemann is professor Emeritus of Old Testament at Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Ga. An ordained minister in the United Church of Christ, Brueggemann has authored 58 books that serve as resources for both students and pastors. His most recent book is “Prayers for a Privileged People,” published in 2008.
 
The Staley Lectures will take place on Mon., Feb. 22 and Tues., Feb. 23 in Union’s Patridge Campus Center conference rooms. Monday’s lecture, “Recovery from the Long Nightmare of Amnesia,” is at 7:00 p.m.  Tuesday’s lecture, “Telling Tales of Agility,” is at 9:30 a.m. Both lectures are free and open to the public.

The Staley Distinguished Christian Scholar Lecture program brings guests to campus who can speak to the role of spirituality in the educational and professional lives of students and community members.  The program is funded by the Thomas F. Staley Foundation of New York.
