Motivational speaker John Faulkner will present “Black in the 22nd Century” at Union College on Oct. 21. |
Union College will host speaker John Faulkner for a special lecture, “Black in the 22nd Century,” on Thurs., Oct. 21 at 6:30 p.m.
The event will take place in Union’s Ed Black Technology Center. It is free and open to the public.
Faulkner’s Union lecture looks back to the 100-plus year effort to win civil rights for the nation’s African-American population, and forward to what the next 100 years will hold. As part of his presentation, he will examine what victory for the civil rights movement looks like, how to determine when it has been achieved, and the question of who decides that the goals of the movement have been met.
Faulkner is the community relations manager for Louisville’s Muhammad Ali Center and a member of the Kentucky Humanities Council’s speakers' bureau. His appearance at Union is sponsored by the college’s Department of Educational Studies and the Kentucky Humanities Council.
