Union College Inclement Weather Policy

Union College has a responsibility to all parties concerned to meet classes on a regular basis as listed in the academic schedule. However, it is also to be recognized that inclement weather may create risks that are not conducive to safe travel, causing classes to be canceled or adjusted.

Following is the Inclement Weather Policy in effect for the current year. Although classes may be scheduled for part of the day, students, faculty, and staff are still cautioned to use good judgement in regard to their own safe travel.

8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. classes canceled. 10 a.m. classes meet on time. 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. classes cancelled. 8:00 a.m. classes meet at 10:00 a.m. 9:00 a.m. classes meet at 11:00 a.m.
Tuesday / Thursday Tuesday / Thursday
8:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. classes cancelled. 10:30 a.m. classes meet on time. 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. classes cancelled. 8:00 a.m. classes meet at 10:30 a.m.

In the event of inclement weather resulting in a delayed start for morning classes, college offices will open at 10:00 a.m. and staff is to report at that time. Your personal judgment, depending on where you live, will need to determine issues of personal safety in trying to get to the campus. We would not want anyone to place themselves at undue risk. Please observe the courtesy of calling your supervisor if you will be late in arriving or unable to get in to work.

Evening classes will be adjusted as needed and will be announced by 3:00 p.m.

Notification to students and faculty will be made through the Union College Hotline (call 606-546-1600), Union e-mail, Union text messaging and the Union voicemail system by 6:30 a.m. Union will also notify the following media outlets by 6:30 a.m. for day classes and 3:00 p.m. for evening classes:
