In our society today, the drug crisis has reached epidemic proportions. During a typical weekend an adolescent dies almost every hour in an alcohol related car crash. Every day more and more young people try alcohol, marijuana, cocaine, and heroin. Union College has designed a comprehensive curriculum for the Chemical Dependency Certification to equip graduates with the skills necessary in assisting chemically dependent persons to alleviate that dependency.
The certification program includes courses designed to provide students with knowledge of the real world of drug dependency. The curriculum focuses on the development of counseling skills specific to the needs of chemically dependent clientele. The certification has been approved by the Kentucky Board of Certification of Drug and Alcohol Counselors.
