History

Offered as a major & minor
Division Level
Undergraduate

The primary mission of the History program is to introduce students to historical knowledge and methodology. The required courses focus on American, European, and World History. History majors benefit from knowledge of other disciplines in the humanities, social sciences, and the natural sciences. The major prepares students for graduate or professional study in history and related disciplines. In addition to acquiring the discipline’s content knowledge and academic skills, history majors examine the development of personality, community, and spirituality in different contexts, an exercise that prepares them for the major’s capstone Philosophy of Life course and reflection on these issues over time.
