Dr. Jerry Jackson

I  loved my experience as a Union College student and was thankful to have the opportunity to serve the college in my position for the last 8 years.  Since graduating in 1990, I have attended other colleges and universities and hold firm, no one does 1:1 like Union.

What does 1:1 mean to you?

One to One means building authentic relationships with students and colleagues that last a lifetime!

What do you love about Union?

Union gave me the opportunity to succeed.   I can honestly say that without Union, I would not be where I am today.  I am lucky that my parents appreciated the transformational power of higher education and instilled in me this value.  I wanted to go to college, but we could not afford any school – much less a private, liberal arts education.   The scholarship that I received at Union changed my life. 

What can you encourage students to do?

Come in with an open mind and heart for learning.  Work hard and I can guarantee our faculty and staff will meet you where you are and walk with you to where you want to go.  If you are the same person on the day you graduate that you are your first day of your freshman year, you did not take full advantage of the opportunities of Union College.
