Here at Union, we are dedicated to your success, and the new Union College Experience is a testament to this commitment. Designed specifically to help incoming freshmen prepare for college, UCE is modeled after nationally recognized programs that provide new students with many advantages, both social and academic.
To help get this journey started, we’ve developed a class to introduce a wide selection of relevant and important topics: academic integrity, time management, organization, plagiarism, learning style tips and many more. This class will continue through your first semester and is worth one credit hour. You will be graded on attendance, participation and a variety of assignments throughout the semester. It will be led by Union College faculty and staff who will help you develop a strong foundation for your entire college career.
Your first few weeks on campus as part of UCE won’t be spent entirely in the classroom. We have many fun and exciting adventures planned for you as well. To learn more about your new home, you’ll have many opportunities to explore your new surroundings and witness for yourself the natural beauty unique to Appalachia.
National studies show that making new friends is the leading concern of new college students. UCE will help eliminate this anxiety by providing you opportunities to mingle with your fellow classmates before classes actually start through team building exercises, class trips and on-campus activities.
UCE is for both residential and on-campus students. You will move in on August 18. From then until classes start on August 27, expect to experience one of the greatest adventures of your life. But for now, enjoy your summer. We can’t wait to see you in August!
