Now a Test-Optional Institution!
Union College recognizes standardized test scores do not fully capture the academic ability of our incoming students. Because we know there are multiple indicators of students’ success, Union College is pleased to announce they are now a test-optional institution for our admissions process and scholarship awarding.
Apply for test-optional admissions and receive an admission decision and scholarship award within 72-hours!

Admissions Process
Applicants decide if they want their admissions application to be test optional. If so, they can indicate this on their Union College application, or they communicate this directly to the Office of Admissions by emailing admissions@unionky.edu.
Applicants will submit the same application materials; however, in absence of the ACT/SAT test, these additional items will be needed:
- a one-to-two page typed graded essay/assignment from their junior or senior year of high school OR submit a response to an essay prompt.
- one letter of recommendation from an academic reference who can speak to their academic performance inside the classroom.
Scholarship Awarding
For applicants who decide to pursue the test optional process, Union College will award merit-based scholarships from their completed admissions application.
