New band director takes helm

The Union College Bulldog Band is now under the direction of David McCullough, announced Dr. David Johns, Vice-President for Academic Affairs. McCullough began his tenure as Director of Bands/Instructor of Music at the beginning of the fall semester. McCullough has previously directed the marching, concert and basketball bands at Syracuse and Butler universities. He has also worked with four different university bands and high school athletic departments to create performances for those individual bands. McCullough holds a BM in Music Education and a MM in Music Education from West Virginia University. In addition to being a musician and band conductor, McCullough is also a published band arranger.

Union’s nursing class of 2018 begins clinical experience

Union College’s newest nursing class was honored recently during a white coat ceremony commemorating the students’ induction into the Edna Jenkins Mann School of Nursing. Dr. Marisa Greer, Dean of Nursing, welcomed 18 new students into Union’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing program with the ceremony. Students have completed the core portion of their undergraduate curriculum and will now focus on upper level courses, which for the nursing students includes clinical experience at Union’s partner facilities. During the ceremony, Dr. Greer gave each student a white nursing coat recognizing their introduction to the traditions and practice of nursing.

Union College presents TYRUS with director and producer Pamela Tom as part of the South Arts Southern Circuit Tour of Independent Filmmakers at Union’s Little Rector Theatre on Thursday, September 22. Following a screening of the film, the filmmaker will engage the audience in a discussion about the film and her work. The event is free and open to the public, but due to limited seating reservations are encouraged by emailing uarts@unionky.edu

Union now offering online MBA program

Union College is now offering a fully online Masters of Business Administration (MBA) program. Students can enroll now for the first class, beginning on October 24, at only $340 per credit hour. Union’s MBA program will consist of 30 credit hours. MBA students should have an undergraduate degree in business or may complete Union’s foundational courses prior to application. The degree can be completed in less than 24 months.

Union’s inaugural nursing class all granted board licensure

All 14 of Union College’s pre-licensure nursing graduates have earned full licensure to practice as registered nurses. The group of students entered the program in 2012 as Union’s inaugural class and have set a benchmark for students in the program to follow.  All of the students that interviewed for nursing positions were offered jobs prior to graduation and issued provisional licenses to practice. At this point, Union’s inaugural class is 100 percent nationally certified and 100 percent employed.
