Union College Online

Union College has been ranked among the best colleges in the state of Kentucky for its online programs, according to the Community for Accredited Online Schools. According to the organization’s Best Online Colleges for 2016-2017 report, Union College is ranked 10th in the state and is only one of two private colleges listed in the top ten.

The If Project

Union College presents The IF Project with documentary director Kathlyn Horan as part of the South Arts Southern Circuit Tour of Independent Filmmakers at Union’s Rector Little Theatre on Thursday, April 6 at 7 p.m. Following a screening of the film the filmmaker will engage the audience in a discussion about the film and her work. The event is free and open to the public, but due to limited seating reservations are encouraged by emailing uarts@unionky.edu.

Music from the Appalachian Mountains

Union College is hosting folk musicians Ken Perlman and Bobby Taylor for “Music from the Appalachian Mountains” on Monday, March 20 at 7 pm. This free event will be held in Union’s Rector Little Theatre. Perlman and Taylor will take the stage focusing on Appalachian folk music, but will interlace their performance with Canadian maritime music as well as other seafaring shanties to tell the tale of immigrants making their way from Europe into Appalachia.

Ryan Sergent-Payne

Union College’s Ryan Sergent-Payne has been selected as the 2017 recipient of the Appalachian College Association (ACA) Colonel Lee. B. Ledford Scholarship. The Ledford Scholarship offers financial assistance for students enrolled at ACA member institutions to conduct summer research in the the fields of laboratory and field work; interviews; analyzing special collections and participant observation. Sergent-Payne joins students from 11 other ACA schools who were honored with the scholarship this year. This is the second year in a row a Union College student has been selected for the scholarship.
