Clark named NAIA Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week

Andy Clark earns a national awardUnion College sophomore Andy Clark was named NAIA National Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, the national office announced on Tuesday.

On Monday, Clark earned his second Appalachian Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week honor on the season after leading the Bulldogs to two key wins while saving 10 shots. Clark shut out defending national champion and then-No. 4 Martin Methodist (Tenn.) on Sept. 23. He saved nine shots in the win over Tennessee Wesleyan on Sept. 27. Clark now ranks second in the NAIA in goals against per game (0.43).

Clark is the first Union men's soccer player to win the NAIA Defensive Player of the Week award since November 2008 when current assistant coach Jonathan Shaw took home the award.
