Union Chapter of Psi Chi inducts 8 new members

The Union College Chapter of Psi Chi inducted eight new members at its annual induction ceremony at the Kenneth L. and Sarah K. Ramsey Center for Health and Natural Sciences on April 25.

The latest class of inductees brings the total membership of the Union Chapter to 82 since its formation in 2004.

This year’s inductees are both graduate and undergraduate students including the following: Gabby Brock, Laurel Everett, Neil Jones, Brianne Bowling, Neysa Kelly, Ralph Manning, Blake Palmer, and Brittany Zins.

Psi Chi is an international honor society whose purpose shall be to encourage, stimulate, and maintain excellence in scholarship of the individual members in all fields, particularly in psychology and to advance the science of psychology.

To become a member of Psi Chi an undergraduate must be enrolled with a major or minor in a psychology program, be at least a sophomore, have completed at least nine semester hours of psychology courses and have earned an overall grade-point average (G.P.A.) which is in the top 35 percent of their class in general scholarship.

Graduate students can also become members if they are enrolled in a psychology graduate program, have completed at least one full semester of graduate coursework and have an overall G.P.A. of at least 3.0 in all graduate courses.

Dr. Charles Jones is the advisor for the chapter with Dr. Ilie Vasilescu serving as co-advisor.
