Annual Merit Scholarships

Your GPA determines your annual academic scholarship*. 


These amounts apply to first-time freshman.

Additional scholarships may be available**.

*These awards may be reduced if you receive aid from outside sources that exceed direct cost.

Competitive Scholarships (can not be stacked with other institutional aid)

Sharp Scholarship- A full-tuition scholarship. Awarded to students who achieve a 3.5 GPA and a 27 ACT score or higher. 


Trustee Scholarship- A full-ride scholarship, including tuition, room, and board. Awarded to seven (7) students who achieve a 3.5 GPA and a 30 ACT score or higher. Three (3) of the seven scholarships are reserved for Knox County students, with one slot each reserved for students from Knox Central, Barbourville, and Lynn Camp High Schools. The distribution of full-ride scholarships will be determined on an annual basis, following the principle of first-come, first-served, after the enrollment deposit is paid.


Governor’s Scholars Scholarship- Students must have completed the Governor’s Scholars Program and present the Union College Admissions Office with their certificate of completion. Four spots are held annually on a first come, first served basis once enrollment deposit is paid. This scholarship covers tuition and fees with a 24 ACT score, up to $30,946. Below 24 ACT qualifies for half tuition and fees up to $19,973.


Rogers Scholar Scholarship-Students must have completed the Rogers Scholar Program and present the Union college Admissions Office with their certificate of completion. Two spots are held annually on a first come, first served basis once enrollment deposit is paid. This scholarship covers tuition and fees with a 24 ACT score, up to $30,946. Below 24 ACT qualifies for half tuition and fees 

up to $19,973.

Other Scholarships

Local High School Scholarship- $1,000 for students from Barbourville High School, Knox Central High School or Lynn Camp High School who attend Union College.


Family Scholarships- Student qualifies for $1,000 scholarship if a parent obtained their undergraduate degree from Union or if a sibling is enrolled at Union at the same time. 


Program Scholarships- Scholarships are available for athletics, choir, justice initiatives and spiritual life. Amounts and qualification are determined by coach/program director. 


Common Partners Scholarship- Up to $2,000 per year. Can be stacked with academic or athletic scholarships. The students will be required to perform community service projects on campus. An application is required, and recipients will be selected by the Dean of Students. 


Loan Repayment Assistance- Select students will be eligible for a program to provide loan repayment assistance after graduation if they struggle to find a job immediately after graduation.
