Union Adds Master of Science in Human Resource Management to Online Degree Program

Union College is adding a master’s degree in human resources to its graduate programs. 


Beginning in the Fall II semester, which starts October 18th, the Master of Science in Human Resource Management will be offered by the Division of Online and Graduate Studies. Classes are available on an eight-week schedule and can be completed in less than two years. In addition to the convenient schedule, cost is just $340 per credit hour.

 

The 30-hour program, is focused on developing student’s leadership capabilities and competencies in current industry practices, including recruitment, hiring, compensation and benefits administration, and training and development.


“Union worked with several senior-level human resource professionals to create a top-tier program built on the Society of Human Resource Management’s HR Leadership Competency Model. As with all Union College graduate programs, our faculty bring real workplace experience to your classroom. This program is designed to help grow the career of Human Resource leaders,” says Dr. David Williams, Dean for the School of Professional & Graduate Studies. 


The Master of Science in Human Resource Management joins the growing list of other online graduate degrees including, the 10-course MBA, Master in Administration, Master in Athletic Administration, Master in Healthcare Administration, Master of Digital Marketing, Master in Information Systems Management, and Master of Managerial Accounting.

Union students win ‘Circles of Purpose’ grants for summer projects

Real-world career experiences, educational travel adventures, and immersive arts exploration await Union Commonwealth University (UCU) students this summer. Funded by the Network for Vocation in Undergraduate Education (NetVUE), a program of the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC), ten students have been awarded Circles of Purpose grants to support their self-designed enrichment projects. Named after Union’s core values of celebration, integrity, responsibility, civility, lifelong learning, engagement, and spirituality – abbreviated CIRCLES – the microgrant program supports students in discovering and developing their unique vocational paths.

Tia Cobb & Lena Visarius – Spreading their wings at Union

UCU students Tia Cobb and Lena Visarius and their professor Libby Megna are building on a body of knowledge tracing back to Darwin’s observations of differences in bird beaks that led to his insights about natural selection. As co-authors on a paper they will submit to academic journals, the three hope to contribute to the scientific community’s understanding of trait evolution and biodiversity. Both students want to continue their studies after graduation – Lena in forensic anthropology and Tia in biology – and experiences like this are part of how UCU is preparing them for these chosen paths.
